KEITH PHOTOGRAPHY & CUSTOM FRAMING
| Hi,
Keith speaking here. The following is an explanation of why I chose to become a PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHER. What can I say: I love pictures of people and what they represent, over the course of time. One day, when I was about 13 or 14 years old, I was at home alone. I thought there was a knock at the door but I wasn't really sure. I can't remember what I was doing, but I do remember thinking that maybe I didn't really hear someone at the door and maybe there wasn't really a need to go see if someone was actually there. After all, it was the middle of the day and how important could it be anyway? Well, by the time I made my way to the door there was a gentleman getting in his car. The gentleman asked me if he was at Richard Brookshire's house and I told him he was. This man, who I had never before or since seen, told me that he went to school with my grandmother. Then he proceeded to pull from his wallet a photo of my grandmother and said he thought my dad might like to have it. I thanked him and told him I would make sure my dad got the picture. Then he was on his way. That day, when this unknown man's car pulled out of the driveway, I had no way of knowing what an emotional impact had just been made on our family history. I knew my grandmother died of TB when my dad was an infant. What never occurred to me was that dad had never even seen a picture of his mother. He didn't even know one ever existed. You can bet that single picture of my grandmother is the single most valuable things my dad has ever had! Since then, I have learned the real value of photographs like the ones my mom recently showed me that I had never before seen. There were some pictures of mom as a little girl and there was a photo of my great grandfather. He passed long before I came along and I had never even seen a picture of him before! Then there are the photos like the one I have of my Grandfather picking-up his brother at the bus station upon his arrival home from WWII. Two really "Sharply dressed men". Just today (03-20-02) one of my favorite clients told me about a trip to her mother-in-laws house. It was one of those times when the old photos came out. Lots of reminiscing and reliving old times. The whole family saw pictures they hadn't seen in years. On the way home the dad told the mom he realized the real value of portraits and he would never again question the dollar amount of what is spent on documenting the family history for their two boys. It's my sincere goal to provide you and you're family with portraits that, if not today, someday will be just as valuable to your family history as the ones you read about above are to me and my family. OK, That's why I chose to became a Portrait Photographer. I love photography and know I could make a living photographing swimsuit or runway models (dream job!!!???) catalogs, sports or whatever. I just have a real NEED to help preserve family history. So, feel free to call on me when you need something special that will hopefully withstand the test of time.
