I've been photographing
these Birthday Cake Portraits for quite a while. These
sessions always have to be done as the last appointment of the day at 5:00.
That's because the baby usually makes a pretty big mess - a big STICKY
mess. I needed a fair amount of time to clean the camera room to get ready
for the next session in the morning.
Below are just about all
the questions I could think of that you might ask. If you have any more

Questions
What will my session be like? When you arrive at the studio
you'll be shown to your private dressing room where you'll get your baby into
his or her first outfit. Your photographer will choose the background to be used
based on what will coordinate with your baby's first outfit.
After we get some
"regular" portraits in that outfit we'll move on to the cake. This is
where the fun begins. We'll set aside plenty of time to get the portraits we
need but honestly, you never know when a one year old will call it quits. So,
we'll work as quickly as possible.
What if the session doesn't go so
well? Hey, it can happen. You never know when a one
year old is going to have a bad day. Heck, it might not even be the baby's
fault. WE could do something to make the session not go so well. Who knows?

Where do I get the cake?
You can get it anywhere you like. HOWEVER, if you like the looks
of the cakes in the pictures on this page let us know. We'll hook you up with
the baker after your appointment is scheduled.
How many outfits can my child
be photographed in? A total of two. One for some
"regular" portraits and one for the cake portraits.
Will there be a line like at
some of those "bargain" picture places? NEVER!!!
Your session time is reserved
especially for you and you alone. We do everything by appointment. You'll never stand in line at Keith
Photography.
Can my baby's big brother or
sister be in a few pictures? This session is all about the
baby. We've tried to add siblings in the past. What usually happens is that by
the time we get some portraits of the baby in the first outfit, then with an
older sibling the baby is just worn out and ready to quit. Especially if the
older sibling is six or seven years old or younger. So, with that in mind, this
session is just for the birthday baby. However, Family Portraits are one of my
specialties and I'd love to schedule a Family Portrait Session for you.
We really want a
Family Portrait.
Can I do this at the same time as the Cake Session? See
the question above about big brothers and sisters. A one year old just won't last long enough to do
more than a couple
of set-ups. Believe me, we WANT to do more than a couple of set-ups. After all
the theory is that if you had more to choose from you could buy more (being
as honest as I can here). Fact is, the baby
just won't last that long and you won't get the cake pictures which is the
reason for the session.
Who will photograph my
session? We have two photographers. Keith
photographs most sessions Monday - Friday. Leann also photographs some sessions
and is really great with kids. Either way, you'll get great Portraits and you're protected by our
exclusive better than money back guarantee.
How do I know what to bring to
my session? Once you schedule your session
you'll get a portrait get ready guide written especially for the first birthday
session. You'll learn everything you need to know from directions to the studio and when to
arrive right down to clothing and what to bring for "worst case"
scenarios.
What's this going to
cost? For the Birthday Cake
Session I ask that you spend at least $200 on Portraits in addition to
the $49+ tax
session fee. beyond that you can spend as much or as little as you wish.
We'll ask you to pre-pay the minimum purchase plus the session fee when
you phone to schedule your appointment. Whether you choose to order
anything beyond that amount on your order day is entirely up to you.
You'll never be pressured to order more than exactly what you want.
What happens after the
session? You'll come back in a
few days (Mon-Fri, 9:00AM - 6:00PM) to see AND order your
Portraits. At this appointment your child's images will be projected
bigger than life for you to choose from. Denise will help you narrow
your choices down to your favorites. It's really an easy process that
usually takes about 45 minutes or less. Everyone involved in the
ordering and payment process should be at this appointment.
I've always
"checked my book out" in the past then come back later to
place my order. Can I do that with this session? Currently
you can still "check out the book" for most sessions. But
the ordering process on the Birthday Cake Sessions is just like we've done
for the past few years for Easter and Santa Sessions. You'll preview and
order at the same appointment, a few days after your portrait session. So, there will be
no book to check out. Honestly, it's the ordering process we're heading
for across the board.
How long does it take
to get my portraits once I place my order? Usually
everything is ready in three weeks or less.
